Cheerios Heart and Stroke Walk for Heart will be this Sunday This Sunday (Sept. 24), thousands of people from 73 communities in six provinces (including five locations in the Greater Toronto Area) will be stepping out in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Cheerios Heart and Stroke Walk for Heart. Last year, this fundraising walk raised almost $3 million nationally. This year, the goal is $3.2 million. Funds raised will support the foundation's efforts in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death among Canadians. Walks will be at Richmond Green Park at Leslie Street and Elgin Mills in Richmond Hill, starting at 10:45 a.m. and at Fairy Lake at Main and Water Streets in Newmarket, also at 10:45 a.m. Call (905) 709-4899 for information on the Richmond Hill walk and (905) 853-6355 for details about the Newmarket event. Registration for the walk will take place up until the day of the event at various locations in the GTA. If you raise $100 or more in pledges, your registration fee is waived and you get a t-shirt! |
