Beverly Coles likes what she's seen of the King City area so far, and she's learning more about it.
Coles has arrived in the area as the new principal of Holy Name Catholic School.
This is the first posting as principal for Coles, although she has 20 years experience with the York Catholic District School Board, teaching all the elementary grades from junior kindergarten to Grade 8.
"I don't really have a favourite," she commented. "They all have things that make them special."
Coles have come to the area after three years as vice-principal at Our Lady of Hope school in Richmond Hill. Prior to that, she taught at All Saints in Unionville, St. Marks and Pope John XXIII.
She said she's been pretty pleased with her new posting.
"I think it's wonderful," she declared. "A very supportive parent community. The children are very enthusiastic."
As well, she pointed to the "great enthusiastic staff that really works as a team."
"It's been basically nothing but a positive experience."
The start of a new school year didn't seem to put many long faces on the students Coles saw the first day. "They came right in and it's as if they had never been away," she observed.
