Black back on farmland trust

Mayor Margaret Black has been re-elected to a second term on the Ontario Farmland Trust Board of Directors.

The Ontario Farmland Trust aims to explore the pressures and opportunities related to the use of farmland in Ontario.

"We believe that it is important to preserve the availability of farmland in Ontario for agriculture," is the philosophy of the trust. "We see farming as both an important business and part of our cultural heritage that is worth preserving. Maintaining productive farmland for farmers benefits us all. Protecting farmland also helps to preserve the broader countryside and its associated values."

"King Township is committed to maintaining its strong agricultural roots and so I am very honoured to once again serve on this board with its clear mandate to pursue the sustainability of farmland in Ontario," Black commented.
