The Inside Pitch
Awards presented as the baseball season wraps up for another year
By Lee-Ann Brinovec

Wind-up Day

The end of another successful baseball season was celebrated in Nobleton Saturday.

The players from all the teams in each division had a chance to play a fun game against their parents, enjoy a barbecue, and thank their coaches for a job well done. It was also a chance for the coaches of each team to acknowledge their players for their skill, and development on the diamond throughout the season.

The day started with the hit-run-throw competition for each age group. Every team had held a competition on their own to determine who would represent them on Wind-up Day. The winners on Wind-up day, according to division, were: junior rookie - Rose Falzone from TVS Development Corp.; rookie - Austin Larsh from Schomberg IGA; mosquito - Zachary Schofield from Rona Cashway; and bantam - Dean Strong from Armstrong Petroleums.

Rookie

The game between the rookies and the parents turned into quite a one-sided affair, with the kids managing to beat their folks by a score of about 15-5 before the game was called and all decided it was time to enjoy the barbecue. The awards for Glen Hulse Plumbing were presented to Francesco Amantea as best defensive player, Alexander Brunato as most improved player and Connor Brunt as MVP.

The coaching staff from the Schomberg IGA team decided that they would not chose players for individual awards, and instead every player received a welldeserved participation trophy for their hard work, great team play and sportsmanship. The coaches would also like to congratulate each player on receiving a second trophy for placing first in their division at the end of the regular season.
