New season at seniors' centre King City Seniors' Centre Submitted by Hans Nielsen A new season is about to start at the King City Seniors' Centre at 30 Fisher St. There will be an open house for membership signup Sept. 6, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. At the same time, there will be a chance to sign up for all the various programs offered at the centre, such sa fun-n-fitness, five-pin bowling, bridge, art club (painting), euchre, line dancing, carpet bowling, badminton and, starting at a later date, billiards. The centre also has facilities for shuffleboard and table tennis. At this time, the centre is looking for someone to run the computer club. The travel club committee will be on hand from 9:30 until 11 to sign people up for a very interesting trip scheduled for Nov. 2. It will be to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, with a buffet lunch, followed by a trip to the Shaw festival to see High Society with Camilla Scott. The dates have been set for the very popular Friday afternoon pot-luck lunch and movie socials, the travel club's annual destination celebration and the Christmas open house. The seniors' centre is run entirely by volunteers to serve seniors in King. So come on out and see what's available in the facility. If you are a new member, pick up a program. People will be there to answer questions and refreshments are free. St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church It's almost that time again! Mark your calendars for the Welcome Back Barbecue and Corn Roast Sept. 9, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the church grounds. Come, bring a friend, and your lawn chairs. It's a great way to get caught up on people's summer activities and to find out about upcoming events at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Hope to see you there. For information or if a ride is needed, call the church office at (905) 833-2325. |
