The next meeting and flower show in the Nobleton and King City Horticultural Society is planned for Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.

However, entries for the flower show must be in place, properly marked, by 7:30 p.m. ready for judging. The doors will be open at 6:45 p.m. to accommodate the exhibitors.

The meeting will be held in the Nobleton Community Hall on Old King Road, just north of the arena complex. The guest speaker is to be Koidu Sulev of Ritcher's Herbs, and his topic is Spruce it up with Herbs. It should be an interesting event as herbs are used for many things, going back hundred of years and Ritcher's is a wellestablished greenhouse.

The Nobleton and King City Horticultural Society has extended a warm welcome to our neighbouring societies from Schomberg, Bolton and Woodbridge to attend this meeting as our guests. The theme of the show will be August Heat, and there are seven categories in the decorative class and more than 80 in the cultural class. Chances are that you can find something in your garden to take to the show.

Check the show book for items and rules.

Also visit the society's Web site at www.altflora.com/nobleton where the listings are posted.

The society recently had a very well attended day trip outing to the Niagara Horticultural School and Butterfly Conservatory. Lunch was enjoyed at the Niagara Culinary School and the weather was just excellent for such a trip. A big thank you goes to the trip organizers, the drivers and car owners for a wellexecuted event.

A group of society volunteers attended the floral day, held recently at the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg, with an information booth and a display. It had a moderate

turnout from the public, but the society showed the colours nevertheless.

The society members and the public are reminded of the fall plant sale to be held in King City in connection with the Lions auction sale. Plants for the sale can be dropped off with Blair Day, at 29 Fisher St., King City The phone number is (905) 833-5173.

Lions golf tournament

Seniors' euchre

The new season for the Seniors Club will begin Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Drop-in Centre, where we will have a meeting and euchre. There will be an evening euchre Sept. 12 at the Drop-in Centre starting at 7:30 p.m. with cash prizes and lunch. All are welcome. We have a bus trip planned to go to Niagara Falls Sept. 19.
