Kingstock was a job well done One has to offer words of congratulations to the Youth Leadership Association of the King Township Chamber of Commerce for putting on fun, entertaining and well-run show in Nobleton Saturday night. The first ever Kingstock Battle of the Bands attracted upwards of 500 people, and the show went off with hardly any complications, at least any that were apparent to the people on hand. The event stuck pretty much to schedule, concluding shortly after midnight, in keeping with its billing. And although police were on hand, the crowd was very well behaved, and there were no troubles for them to break up. There were no indications of alcohol or anything else that might be considered illicit. Even smokers were few in number. It was interesting that there were several age groups represented in the audience, although the younger set was in the clear majority. The music may not have suited everyone's tastes, but the fact is this was a series of performances by young people, arranged by young people for young people. In that regard, they reached their audience. It is no secret that a rural area like King has a shortage of activities for the younger crowd, and during the summer the schools aren't available to address the need. That's why credit goes to the Youth Leadership Association. They saw the need, and did a very good job of trying to address it. Let's hope this was the first of several such efforts. |
