King to buy a grader

The Township plans to buy a new grader from Champion Road Machinery Sales for $135,756.

King councillors recently approved the deal, with operations department staff reporting that price did not include GST, but it did include $82,800 that will be realized from trading in a 1989 machine, as well as an extended warranty.

The staff report stated this transaction is covered in the Township's 10-year capital equipment expenditure plan, and the procedure is to replace graders about every 15 years.

They also reported the the warranty period for the new machine has been extended from one to three years. That added about $4,000 to the price

Director of Operations Jody LaPlante told Councillors the price is some $100,000 less than what had been budgeted.

The total tender price proposed by the only other bidder, Tormont Cat, was almost $37,000 higher than the Champion figures.
