August York Regional Forest tour a great family outing

The York Regional Forest staff will play host to a monthly forest walking tour this Saturday (Aug. 19) at the Hall Tract.

Meet a forester and learn what tools are used to manage the York Regional Forest. Learn how to measure tree height, diameter and age, and to use a wedge prism. Find where you are in the Forest using tools old and new. Then test your own skills using tools found in a Forester's vest!

The event will run from 10 a.m. until noon. The Hall Tract is at 15578 Highway 48 in Whitchurch-Stouffville, just north of Aurora Sideroad. Admission will be free.

Throughout the summer, members of the public can come out and explore the natural air conditioning of the 5,000 acres of York Regional Forest on 18 different tracts (properties) across the Region. This forest walk is one of 12 free, family-friendly events hosted by York Forestry. The walks take place each month.
