Durbano to run again in Ward 5 James Durbano believes his vast business background can serve the residents of King Township well, from the local council table. He has announced he will be seeking the Ward 5 council seat. "I have a serious desire to serve and represent King," he declared. Durbano resides in York Mills, but he owns 100 acres in Schomberg, where he operates a driving range. This is among some 15 companies that he runs. Durbano ran in the 2003 election in Ward 5, finishing third in a three-way race that was won by Jane Underhill. He has held elected office in the past, serving as a trustee on the separate school board representing Metropolitan Toronto from 1962 to 1978. Since then, he has served on the Red Cross, his local traffic safety council and was one of the first members of the Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in his area. He also coached hockey in Toronto for 20 years. Durbano was speaking confidently about his chances of getting a seat on council. "I hope to win, or I wouldn't run," he said. |
