Lions did well in July The King City Lions were a tough club to beat in under8 girls' soccer in July. Early in the month, they posted a decisive 6-1 victory over Pete's Donuts. Olivia Tierney and Elizabeth Westerhoek each contributed a pair of goals for the winners, while Melissa Hubbard and Nicole Cozzi kicked in singles. Hubbard was named player of the game. July 13 saw the Lions double King Bible Church 42. Cozzi had a two-goal evening for the winners, and Sara Selvaggi and Felicia Amaturo each scored one. Tallen Moyer was player of the game for the Lions. At the other end of the field, Veronica Cescolini handled all the scoring, while Dana Paglia was named player of the game. The following week saw the Lions blank Consortium Consulting 3-0. Selvaggi got two of the markers in the winning cause, and Cozzi collected the other one. Megan McKenzie was player of the game for the victors, while Elizabeth Cianni drew similar honours for the Consulting crew. Consortium faced Pete's Donuts July 13, and prevailed 7-1. Danielle Hudspith collected three of the goals for the winners, as well as player of the game honours, while singles were notched by Chelsea Taffo, Elisabeth Cianni, Melissa Diceman and Melissa DiCarlo.
