Why did King spend that money?

In response to the editorial in the July 26 Sentinel entitled, "At least $50,000 of your money down the drain, and for what?", you might also ask the question "Why ?"

The action that was brought by the citizens' group named and identified the Region of York as the "opponent." It was the Council of King Township which, in my view unnecessarily,

chose to spend the money and join in on the case. There was, and is, in my opinion, no logical reason for King Township to have taken any position relative to the case that was brought against York Region.

Further, from a fiscal responsibility standpoint, it's interesting to note that the Region and Township's legal fees for this exercise were

more than 10 times the legal fees for the citizen's group taking the action. Again, one has to wonder, Why?

Spin it as you will, the truth is, that I might ask the same question you have asked in your title; but the perspective would likely be very different.
