Chief attended funerals for slain RCMP officers

York Regional Police Chief Armand La Barge has, on behalf of the entire service, extended his sympathies to the families, friends and colleagues of the two RCMP officers who were shot and later died in Saskatchewan earlier this month.

"The tragic deaths of RCMP Constable Robin Cameron and Constable Marc Bourdages, our fellow sister and brother officers, will be mourned by officers from all across Canada. When one of us falls, we all stumble," La Barge said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these officers and with their friends and colleagues. Today is a day to reflect on the dedication of these officers."

La Barge, along with Inspector Rick McCabe and other York Regional Police officers, travelled to Saskatchewan to attend the funerals of these two officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community.

Books of condolence are available for residents to sign at all district stations and in the Great Hall at York Regional Police headquarters in Newmarket.
