The Government Agencies Committee of the Ontario Legislature recently elected York North MPP Julia Munro as its chair.

The committee reviews selected government appointees and conducts reviews of the performance of government agencies.

"I am pleased to have been elected as chair of this important committee," Munro remarked. "The Government Agencies Committee does vital work in holding the government to account for its appointments to agencies, boards and commissions."

The committee is one of only three in the Legislature that is chaired by an opposition MPP. It is currently considering agency reviews of LCBO, Hydro 1 and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

"Ontario citizens need to feel confident that government agencies are doing their jobs," Munro said. "Helping build this confidence will be my chief task as chair of the committee."
